Once your Mendabath technician has completed your bath’s restoration, to keep it looking pristine, you need to learn how to clean and maintain it. While a resurfaced and restored bath will last for years, proper care and maintenance will ensure that the coatings stay in tip-top shape. Although you can use the resurfaced bath within 24 hours after completion, the first 30 days of your newly surfaced bath is when it is the most susceptible to damage; therefore, it is vital that you take extra care during this time.
We recommend that you avoid any products or cleaners with high chemical and colourant concentrations as these products are likely to damage the resurfaced bath. Regardless if it is the original bath or a resurfaced bath, harsh and abrasive chemicals are the number one culprits of damaging sanitary wear. While hygiene is important, and we all love a clean bath, be careful when using drain cleaners, grout cleaners and limescale removers as if you allow them to sit on the surface for extended periods of time, they can cause irreversible damage. Along with using soft chemicals, to avoid scratches, be sure to use non-abrasive sponges.
We recommend you use soft, mild cleaners and a soft large sponge to clean your bath. The bath is a safe haven, a place to relax after a long day at work. While a bath bomb, bubbles and oils all add to the ambience, if they are loaded with colourants, over time, they can begin to discolour your newly resurfaced baths. We recommend using natural products and those which are neutral in colour; this means that you can still sit back and relax within your lavender-scented bubble bath without causing any long-lasting damage to the bath. It is also best practice to give your bath a good clean and dry once emptied, just to make sure that none of the products sticks.
Bathtime is fun for the whole family, especially when there are toys involved! However, bath mats and suction toys, when left for extended periods of time, are also likely to cause damage to a resurfaced bath. To avoid any long-lasting damage, we recommend avoiding suction pads if possible. However, if you choose to use them, make sure that after four weeks of the resurfacing and after each use, and suction pads are removed, and the bath is given a little clean with some soft cleaning products non-abrasive sponge. It is also best practice not to store products, bottles and toys on the edges of the bath, as water can get trapped, causing stains and discolouration.
While a little drip may not seem like a big deal, a little drip does build up over time and will end up causing damage to your bath.
